Visions of Sugarplums danced in their heads.....
Okay, sugarplums probably refer to sweets but this little ornament gets my vote for my favorite "sugarplum". Went to the Barker Mansion in Michigan City last week with friends to tour the decorated rooms and picked this one up in their gift shop. It's a reproduction of the German ornaments that the Barker family used on their trees in the late 1800's. What does your fav ornament look like? BTW, any pearls of wisdom available on how to take pics of your Christmas tree with a digital camera that doesn't give your pictures that "deer in the headlights" look?

All I can think of is to shoot from a lower position. Trees always seem to look better when they look taller. maybe if you can control your exposure? Try some different modes: indoor, outdoor, bright sun ... that kind of thing?

love the historicalness of your ornament. Today we went with friends to get a tree. Why did it not cross my mind that they would be closed at 8 on Sunday night?
Because we live in a world where we can buy pretty much anything at any time. Believe it or not, but we used to have to buy gas for our car and boat on Saturday because note ONE store was open on Sundays...you just did not travel on Sunday if you hadn't gassed up.

I think good christmas tree shots are impossible without really good natural light.
Seriously - the only good shots we get are when we're cutting it down.
