Too beautiful for words
The Akademie organized a drawing excursion to Venice as a kick off to the summer semseter this year. We had a great time; drew our brains out, ate pizza, drank endless cappuccinos, pretended to speak Italian etc.
A routing point for everything Balon related. THE BALON BLOGOSPHERE!!! (or kingston, kimball, fuson, schreiner... you get the picture)

Matthew, we're so glad you were feeling good enough to go to Venice! And what beautiful weather you had for your trip. Next we want to see some of your pictures with your brains on top - tee hee...I've heard that all you have to do to speak Italian is raise your hand with your finger tips together and GESTURE!!!! Hope you've come down from your caffeine high so that Marissa can get a word in edgewise....we're so happy your trip went so well.

Glad to see you wearing the healing scarf. Did Marissa go with? Gosh what beauty. You really got some great shots.
These pics really are too beautiful for words-!
I'm glad too that you were able to go on this trip.
I saw a documentary about this guy who blew like 300 big glass balls and floated them down the canals of Venice. It was incredible!
Hols the irony is that you don't have a choice about the healing scarf. If you don't wear one and the germans find out you've got a cold or something they FLIP out. Being not 'properly' attired is the one issue even strangers will confront you about on the street.
OK, guys. Matthew may have changed in one way or the other since we've moved here. Food tolerance, for example. Or telling people that they are wrong. And - fresh air! But there is no doubt in my mind that he is ever going to wear a piece of clothes on his body for any other reasons but style & fashion.
Marissa, you know your husband well...
Faith, we saw that guy's work hanging from the ceiling in a fortress in Israel. They were a cluster of yellow, spiral icicles. I can't remember his name though....drat. That documentary was so awesome, showed the whole glass making process and how they put these monstrous works of art together.
I'm guessing you guys mean Dale Chihuly.
But of course...amazing what he can do with glass.. by the way, Matthew, what WAS that place with all the books strewn about that looked out upon a canal?
The Anti-Barnes&Nobles. Yes, that was a book store, possibly the greatest book store in the whole world. The opening was actually a doorway with a few steps down to the water for those arriving by boat :)
Unbelievable, really romantic in every way possible. Right down to the lamp post details!
Was that Juliet's window I saw in there? ;-)
I hear m&m on both counts. When in Rome... find a gorgeous scarf and go for it.
Pure ecstasy.
Bethany
