Autumn is in the Air

Oh, to be able to do the impossible - I would grab a big fistful of this crisp October day and mail it off to my luvies! The trees were standing like brilliant fall exclamations points all over town this morning as Dad and I headed off to our favorite breakfast haunt, Panera Bread. Your tree, Holly, is in its glory today. Leaves are heaped in front the houses along Washington Street waiting for the giant leaf sucker-upper to pass by. My zinnias are still a riot of color - orange, gold, peach, yellow, crimson - next to the rose arbor. The leaves along the sidewalks are inviting me to come and KICK THEM! And of course there is that lingering scent of wood smoke in the air from morning fires. So, this is my plan, y'all come over in about a half an hour and I'll start the cider simmering with some cinnamon sticks. We'll send someone to Chuck's Bakery for some glazed pumpkin donuts and the kids can rake leaves and jump in them while the adults catch up on what they've been doing this week. Come on, what else better do you have to do this morning????
